Discovery Park

Hi Friends!

Our other nature adventure this weekend was at Discovery Park in Seattle. There are a bunch of areas to park and wander around. Discovery Park is the largest park in Seattle- it has beachfront to lounge on or just beach comb , trails, a visitors center--even teepees! Seriously it's so huge you can get lost there (which is why you should pick up a map in the parking lot!) We parked in the North Parking Lot and wandered around the visitors center and reflection ponds (that don't really reflect but are fun to see).

From the visitors center we continued on to the North Beach. The trail is pretty well shaded and goes downhill most of the way (as you may expect). There aren't bathrooms centrally located so I would definitely recommend using the bathrooms when you find them along the way (the portapotties are in odd locations). You can see the lighthouse from the beach and there are a lot of logs to sit on and enjoy lunch. Isla loved beach-combing and collecting shells.

We took the North Beach Trail and then the Loop trail to get back to the parking lot. It's a really pretty walk but it can be warm and in the sun so remember water and sunscreen.

Oh, and about that map---seriously pick one up....getting lost isn't the worst thing in the world (It's pretty gorgeous out there) but when it's warm it can be a little frustrating. Our navigator only speaks 10 words so we were at a bit of a disadvantage :)

 Have fun guys!

S (&Isla :)
